Haiti Earthquake Updates: Strong Earthquake Rocks Haiti, Killing Hundreds

Great news for northern Haiti: work has started to clean and deepen Cap-Haïtien International Port so bigger ships can dock, and this will speed up shipping, lower costs, support local businesses and farmers, create jobs, and boost the region’s economy. The project is led by the Northern Departmental Directorate of Agriculture (DDAN), with the National Port Authority (APN) and support from Blòk Laroch.

Last week, a water capture and distribution project was launched in Gressier, #Haiti by the head of the UN Stabilization Mission in the country (MINUSTAH), Sandra Honoré. Funded by the UN Mission, the $80,000 venture will supply water through nearly 5,000 metres of underground pipes to 12 kiosks spread across the surrounding communities in the Gressier commune. Designed to help Haiti and the United Nations fight cholera, it will enable 60,000 people's access to clean water on a daily basis. Read
