The famous whistle in Kill Bill Vol. 1 wasn’t created for the movie at all. Tarantino borrowed it from the 1968 British film Twisted Nerve, where it was composed by legendary composer Bernard Herrmann, the same mind behind classic scores like Psycho and Vertigo. The tune originally had a playful but unsettling feel, which made it perfect for Tarantino’s style.
