Cumberland Gap is a pass through the Cumberland Mountains on the borders of Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The pass was discovered in 1750 by frontiersman and explorer Dr. Thomas Walker, where Daniel Boone began leading pioneers into what was then known as "Kain-tuck-ee" (or a variation) to many Native American tribes.
