I was married to a man who was all about the show. He didn’t want to BE a good man—truly he had zero interest in that—he just wanted the world to think he WAS one. He’s pushing 70 now and still an empty shell where a soul should be. This is part of the damage of the patriarchy—trying to one-up other men for your entire life prevents men from becoming their authentic selves. It’s not good for anyone.
