It has a lovely little cafe for takeway and sit down food and ice cream. The beach is great for finding fossils but please stay away from the cliffs due to rock falls. Porthcawl RNLI's volunteer crew were paged by HM Coastguard early on Monday morning (21 August) and launched the charity's lifeboats to a yacht aground in the surf at Llantwit Major Beach - over 9 nautical miles from Porthcawl. Once on scene Porthcawl RNLI crew members assisted Llantwit Major Coastguard team rescue one casualty from the stricken yacht.
