Hollowing out a cabbage

Here’s how I core cabbage, cutting the core out before I slice through the whole. Cabbage heads are so big! So it’s easier to manage them once the core is out and the giant is cut in half. Cabbage that you cut and shred yourself has such better texture and flavor than the bagged slaws. Plus, that core is pretty dense, and it can be a chore to cut down through it, so that’s one reason why I cut it out first.
