During the hustle & bustle of the Christmas season, I think sometimes we forget what that very first Christmas was like. There wasn't a lot of decorations & parties to welcome Jesus to our world, but there was a Heavenly celebration that the shepherds & wise men saw as they came to worship & honor Him! When we sat down to write an original song for my Christmas album, all I could think about was what that celebration would have been like! I hope we captured the spirit of it in this song, Lift Up

Words can't even begin to express what this song means to me. From the first time I heard Vince Gill sing it, I knew I wanted to record my own version of it. Its simple yet profound, and when I looked into the history of the song, I found that it was written by African slaves in centuries past who had clung to the only hope of mankind, Jesus. They may have had nothing to show for on this earth, but they had eternity secured. It seems with all the comforts, freedoms and technological advancements
