Feb 25, 2018 · The GP100 uses a single spring for the trigger return and for the trigger guard (trigger assembly) latch. It is a compromise between a light trigger and the trigger guard latching firmly into the frame of the gun. The stock trigger/latch spring is adequate but a new lighter trigger spring my not be. This is a poor design feature.

Have already seen the MSRP of the GP100 change twice. Can't find a King Cobra either. On sites where prices are shown there seems to be a difference of about $250. Nov 16, 2008 · Bean Counters have destroyed the lines with materials and designs. Ruger has suffered less from this in their revolver line. The fact is today the 3 are about equal. If I was determined to buy a new gun, as I gather you are ( as gift to GS ) I would have to vote for the Ruger. I think it is capable of reaching the heirloom status you seek.

Sep 13, 2016 · I own both the GP100 and S&W 617. Shooting 1000s through both. Both are accurate and triggers decent out of the box. And both triggers getting sweeter with use. Waiting for the King Cobra Target. Around October last year spoke to Colt CS. They said it would be available 1st quarter this year. Hoping any day now.

Mar 26, 2023 · The guy next to me had this Stainless GP100 357 Mag and I happen to have a hole open in my Ruger lineup. I have a couple 44 Mags and a 45 ACP/45 Colt and a 22lr/22 Mag all covered but no 357's and that is my favorite caliber so out came the wallet and It came home with me. So now I have a Ruger 357 to go with my Smiths and Colt.

Dec 20, 2018 · But I learned to shoot (through lots of practice) using that GP100 in 357 Mag/38. After many years I decided to get the S&W after shooting the son-in-law's 686 Plus. I almost instantly passed the Ruger on and bought a S&W 686 Plus. But everybody is different and you may choose the Ruger. Many people do. Both are really good guns. LDBennett

May 12, 2019 · Brand new out of the box. I think Ruger will resolve the problem. I just hope I don't have to send in the gun. I had tried twice to buy a new SW 686 plus, 6" barrel, 7shot revolver, but the two new from the factory had defects. Gave up on SW and went to Ruger. The tech that made the two SW's must of got fired and went to work for Ruger. .

Feb 19, 2018 · My S&W 44Mag and 357Mag and my new Ruger GP100 in 22LR are all 4 inch guns. I also stuck a 4 inch barrel on my son's 357 Dan Wesson. If I bought another double action revolver it would be 4 inches again. Single action revolvers, I think, look best with 5 inch barrels and that is what my Ruger Biseley Vaquero in 357 Mag has.
