Indian Railways’ Vande Bharat Express expands to 136 routes in 2024, linking major cities and regions with semi-high-speed luxury trains.

The first Vande Bharat sleeper trains are expected to start running in January 2025. However, the official confirmation on the launch of Vande Bharat sleeper trains is awaited. The rollout of the train depends on the outcome of the trial runs.

According to reports, Pune may soon see four new Vande Bharat Express trains; however, no official confirmation has come on this yet.

The Indian Railways is currently running 136 Vande Bharat Express train services across the Indian Railways network as of, 2024.

Indian Railways saw significant advancements in 2024. A total of 136 Vande Bharat trains are operational. Tracks were electrified, and many stations are under redevelopment. E-ticketing has increased.

Currently, there are three Vande Bharat Express trains that either originate from or pass through Pune. These include the Pune-SSS Hubballi, Pune-Kolhapur and Mumbai CSMT-Solapur routes. Nationwide, there are 136 Vande Bharat Express train services currently operational, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing the passenger experience.

Expectations: Budget 2025 is expected to outline investments in high-speed trains, new routes, station upgrades, and environmental initiatives to reduce carbon emissions.

Indian Railways introduced a total of 62 Vande Bharat train services in the calendar year 2024 and also the first Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Ahmedabad and Bhuj was introduced on September 17, 2024.
