In Game 2 of the 2000 World Series, New York Yankees starting pitcher Roger Clemens threw a shard of a broken bat in the direction of New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza, who had just broken his lumber while trying to fight off an inside pitch that dribbled foul.

Clemens, speaking to reporters after the conclusion of Saturday’s Old-Timers’ Day festivities, said he’s in support of most new rules. He likes the pitch clock. He loves the automated strike zone and wants every batter to have an opportunity to challenge a pitch at least once every game. As he put it, “It only takes two seconds.”
