North Carolina residents attended a training session on what rights people have when interacting with immigration authorities and how to spot federal immigration agents Friday in Charlotte, N.C.

RALEIGH — A North Carolina man is running 150 miles from Raleigh to Charlotte to support firefighters. Jalen Snipes began his journey on Friday morning, wearing a Raleigh Fire Department shirt, as a tribute to the firefighters who saved his family when their home was struck by lightning during his childhood.

Scout Motors announced that it chose Charlotte, North Carolina as the location for its U.S. headquarters. The automaker plans to invest $206 million in the site and create 1,200 jobs over the next five years.

A fire weather watch was issued by the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC on Saturday at 1:36 p.m. valid for Sunday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The watch is for Martin, Pitt and Greene counties.

Charlotte has emerged as the epicenter of already intense debates on how North Carolina should address immigration and crime.
