Isbel is a useful player to have on a roster, but he's proving he can't be counted on to help the offense. You want him tracking down balls in center field, but not in starts against left-handed pitchers, and possibily in more of a full-time bench role someday soon.

Per ESPN's Jeff Passan, Lugo is finalizing a multi-year contract extension to stay with the Royals.

As such, Lugo, who would have become a free agent at season's end assuming he turned down his $15 million player option for 2026, was the subject of much trade speculation.
