Hard-right nationalist George Simion could win Romania’s presidential election run-off on Sunday – a vote being held five months after the original election was annulled.

Romania’s constitutional court threw out defeated far-right candidate George Simion’s challenge to the result of Sunday’s presidential election. Simion announced Tuesday he would contest the outcome, claiming foreign interference by France and Moldova and voter fraud had influenced the contest, without providing evidence.

Romania’s Constitutional Court on Thursday unanimously rejected the appeal filed by far-right leader George Simion challenging the results of the country's presidential election. The Court also formally validated the outcome of last Sunday's election, won by Bucharest mayor Nicușor Dan. The decision is final and cannot be appealed.
