Winter Weather Advisory has ended with sunshine returning this afternoon. TODAY A cold start to the weekend with temperatures in the low to mid 30s. We’ll have a chance for a few drizzle showers during the morning but the rain will clear out early.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. We got up to 30 degrees yesterday which, despite still being below freezing, felt like spring break compared to the days before where we were lucky to crack 10 degrees with the wind chill.

Sunday will be one of the warmer days on our forecast, with temps reaching the mid 30s - meaning some of the snowpack will be melting as well as some ice. Watch out for falling ice in our area but the sunshine spilling out will help melt some side roads and sidewalks as well.

Besides the snow and wind, skies will be cloudy. Saturday will bring lows in the low-teens and highs in the upper-teens. Sunday will be colder still, as we’ll start in the teens in the morning and end in single-digits by the afternoon, due to cold air spilling into our region. Overall, the weekend will be active and chilly.

A major winter storm passing by well to our south is dumping heavy snow in places like Nashville and Atlanta, with some sleet, freezing rain and rain for the deep south. We’re on the far northern edge of that storm,

The cold and overcast skies will remain into the afternoon with a few areas closer to I-95 that could see a few flurries, but most will stay overcast until the evening, as we will begin to see the start of our wintry weather.

Tonight temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits and teens in some areas accompanied with snow fall.

High pressure will nudge farther eastward, allowing for clouds to increase as moisture arrives ahead of a storm system in the Gulf states. The southern disturbance will bring light snow around sunset,

The cold, windy weather continues. Our *First Alert Weather Day* continues through this evening as wind chill values remain in the 5-15 degree range as gusts stay between 40 and 50 mph. Meteorologist Scott Gagliardi said some light snow was possible on Saturday.
