The personal information of MI6 spies, Special Air Service, and special forces personnel was compromised in a massive United Kingdom data leak, which forced the relocation of thousands of Afghan collaborators.

LONDON — A data leak that led thousands of Afghans to be resettled in the U.K. after their safety was jeopardized because they assisted forces against the Taliban also exposed the identities of British spies and special forces, news organizations reported Thursday.

But relatives of Afghans named in the leak told the BBC that they fear for their family still in the country, with one saying efforts by the Taliban to find their named relative intensified following the leak. An MoD spokesperson said: "It's longstanding policy of successive governments to not comment on special forces.
