Just days before Christmas, workers are several Amazon facilities across the nation went on strike after failed contract negotiations with the e-commerce giant.

Amazon delivery drivers and Starbucks baristas are on strike in a handful of U.S. cities as they seek to exert pressure on the two major companies to recognize them as unionized employees or to meet demands for an inaugural labor contract.

A five-day strike by Starbucks baristas had closed at least 59 stores as of Monday afternoon, according to the union organizing the workers
