As the deadly shooting at Coquette Brasserie in Raleigh's popular North Hills shopping area unfolded Friday morning, people who work in the area described the situation as "horrifying" and "a shock."

The incident took place at Coquette, a French restaurant in a North Hills mall, located in an affluent area of Raleigh on Friday. While the call was initially for an ‘active shooter,’ police later confirmed it was not a traditional ‘active shooter’ situation.

Raleigh police responded to a potential shooting at the North Hills development Friday. Officers were called to the 4300 block of the Circle at North Hills Street, according to a Raleigh Police Department Facebook post. The department asked the public to avoid the area while police investigate.
