Former Arizona Cardinals first-round pick Isaiah Simmons is signing with the Carolina Panthers, as made official by the team. Simmons was added to Carolina's practice squad after a slew of injuries at the position opened up a spot for the former No. 8 overall pick.

As announced on Tuesday, the team has signed Simmons to their practice squad. The University of Clemson standout was considered one of the favorites to be selected by Carolina with the seventh overall pick of the 2020 NFL draft, a spot that was used on (eventual) Pro Bowl defensive lineman Derrick Brown.

Only two of the NFL's 32 general managers played in the league -- and they took drastically different paths to get there.

The Panthers last went to the playoffs in 2017, and since then, they've had to offload several players who've gone on to star elsewhere. Much like Scott Pilgrim, the Panthers are going to have to face their exes to get where they want to go.
