The boat has sunk for Justin, Texas-based EV startup Canoo. Canoo, the maker of roly poly-looking electric vans and trucks, announced Friday it had begun bankruptcy proceedings and ceased operations,

The EV start-up had at one point allegedly been in conversations with Apple and had signed contracts with both NASA and Walmart.

Canoo said on Friday night that it has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and “will cease operations effective immediately,” after failing to secure enough funding to keep it going. The writing was on the wall for the EV startup leading up to the announcement;
