Barely an hour before the game, news broke that star Canucks forward, J.T. Miller, would be traded back to the New York Rangers. Joining him in the deal are defenceman Erik Brännström and prospect Jackson Dorrington.

It was an emotional Friday for the Vancouver Canucks, but they still had a game to play. They lost, but between J.T. Miller’s trade and Quinn Hughes’ possible injury, the game felt like an afterthought.

Miller heads back to New York, where he spent the first six seasons of his career, in exchange for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini and a 2025 top-13 protected first-round pick. Vancouver prospects Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington also went to the Rangers in the deal. Vancouver’s return was reported by the New York Post.
