One of the more puzzling parts of the trade deadline earlier this month was when the Lakers announced that their trade to acquire big man Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets was rescinded just 48 hours after it was announced.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets aren't considered rivals, but there will be some bad blood between the two squads when they face each other on Wednesday. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst,

On Feb. 1, the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz agreed to a blockbuster trade that shocked everybody. The deal sent Markieff Morris, Maxi Kleber, and Luka Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a future first-round pick. The Jazz received draft capital and Jalen Hood-Schifino.

The majority of the NBA world continues to slam Nico Harrison and the Dallas Mavericks owners for deciding to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for a lackluster return. While there is the occasional person who says the Mavericks came out on top, those people are few and far between.

Though Kyrie Irving stayed put at this year's NBA trade deadline, the team around him changed drastically. In one of the biggest trades in NBA history, the Dallas Mavericks sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in return for Anthony Davis.
