Protests against the Trump administration Saturday were predominantly peaceful, including in Los Angeles which has seen over a week of demonstrations against President Trump’s agenda. Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) joins Alex Witt to discuss yesterday’s events.

Police in Los Angeles, where protests over federal immigration enforcement raids erupted a week earlier and sparked demonstrations across the country, used tear gas and crowd-control munitions to clear out protesters on Saturday.

Marines have moved into Los Angeles to guard a federal building after a week of protests against immigration raids, while communities across the country are preparing for demonstrations against President Donald Trump’s polices this weekend.

Los Angeles is one of hundreds of places across the U.S. seeing massive protests against the Trump administration, although L.A. has already seen a week of demonstrations against the immigration policies of President Trump.

The California National Guard and Marines remain deployed in Los Angeles to help temper unrest in that city. The Marines earlier in the day stopped and detained an American citizen trying to enter a federal building.

The demonstrations come on the heels of protests flaring up around the country over federal immigration enforcement raids that began last week and Trump ordering National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles where protesters blocked a freeway and set cars on fire.
