The Community Foundation says it will announce a major milestone in the response to its Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and the first round of grant recipients.

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country is expected to announce a “major milestone” in response to the Kerr County Relief Fund one week after deadly floods ripped through the county.

A chain-link fence that separates Water Street in the center of Kerrville from the Guadalupe River just a few hundred feet away has become a makeshift memorial, with the flower-covered stretch serving as a focal point for a grieving community.

The Hearst Foundations have announced two emergency grants totaling $1 million to support relief efforts following devastating flooding in Texas.

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has started a Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. The fund will provide aid to vetted organizations in Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point and Comfort that are providing rescue, relief and recovery operations as well as flood assistance, according to the foundation.

Kerr County is looking at how much warning was given before the flood and how to prevent the next disaster, while donations pour in for flood victims.
