Federal prosecutors say a Brooklyn businessman identified only as “Businessman-5” in an indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams plans to plead guilty to a conspiracy charge in connection with the illegal collection of campaign contributions.

Erden Arkan, owner of KSK Construction, was accused of arranging false “straw” donations to Adams’ 2021 campaign in order to help Adams secure more public matching funds. Arkan will plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, prosecutors wrote to the judge overseeing Adams’ case in a letter on Monday.
