Grok 4 is xAI’s most advanced model yet, but early praise is clashing with old scandals and fresh tests of its limits.

The initiative hadn’t been planned to include xAI’s Grok model as recently as March, a former Pentagon employee says.

AI owner Elon Musk made some big claims about Grok’s capability, saying it was “better than PhD level in every subject.”
