James Cody, 30, was convicted in May of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 72-year-old Michael Kelly.

Cody was arrested by Divernon police April 27 for aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon (knife) and was brought to the jail that night.
