Taiwan's digital ministry said on Friday that government departments should not use Chinese startup DeepSeek's artificial intelligence (AI) service, saying that as the product is from China it represents a security concern.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) said yesterday that public sector workers will be banned from using DeepSeek, a recently released Chinese artificial intelligence model, due to concerns over data leaks to the Chinese government.

Taiwan has banned workers in the public sector and at key infrastructure facilities from using DeepSeek, saying it was a Chinese product and could endanger national security.
