A video showing flashes of moving lights in the Wisconsin night sky has been miscaptioned online as a timelapse of drones spotted in New Jersey in December.

TL;DR: New Jersey thought it had a drone problem. Turns out, it just has a lot of planes. Maybe next time, folks, use those flight apps before declaring the arrival of aliens.

Then drones were spotted in Monmouth County, where the sheriff told Fox News that he wants the legal authority to “de-drone.” Drones were in the Pine Barrens, inching into Staten Island, and also in the Bronx.

Federal authorities have said there is no known public threat, and many onlookers suggest sightings are often just misidentified airplanes, helicopters or stars.
