The 2025 MLB trade deadline was one of the most active in recent memory, and while there was no true superstar-caliber player changing hands, some major trades went down ahead of the annual deadline.

Per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, Correa will move from shortstop to third base to replace Isaac Paredes, who is out for the season with a torn hamstring. Jeremy Peña, Correa's direct replacement at shortstop in Houston, will keep his position. It will be the first time in Correa's MLB career that he plays a position other than shortstop.

Correa is a 3-time All-Star, former Rookie of the Year and member of the Astros team who won the 2017 World Series. On the morning of the trade deadline, it appeared Houston's trade talks with Minnesota for Correa were "all but dead," per USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
