"Never use a vegetable-cutting knife for bypass surgery" - Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar declared Tuesday, in his first comments since the opposition's motion of no-confidence in his stewardship of the Upper House was junked.

In a surprising response to the opposition's no-confidence motion, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar dismissed the move as a 'rusted tool' not even fit for vegetable cutting. He emphasised the need for dialogue and constitutional integrity.

The Opposition on December 10 gave notice to move a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankhar. The resolution was signed by 61 MPs.

New Delhi: The no-confidence motion filed by opposition parties against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar was dismissed on Thursday by Deputy Chairman Harivansh. The motion was deemed invalid as it failed to adhere to mandatory requirements, including a 14-day notice and the correct spelling of Mr Dhankhar’s name.

Dhankhar expressed his astonishment at the motion, which was signed by over 60 opposition members, accusing him of being biased and unfit for his position.
