The summer of soccer will take a new look this year with the FIFA Club World Cup, which comes to the U.S. for the first edition of the expanded competition that will see 32 teams from around the world compete for a share of the $1 billion prize purse.

The FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in its new, expanded format this weekend, featuring 32 of the world's top clubs competing over four weeks and 63 matches across 11 host cities in the US.

Headlined by showcases with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Hard Rock Stadium will play host to eight matches, including two knockout Round of 16 games.

Madrid rank third among all Club World Cup participants in terms of average minutes played per player since August 1, a staggering 3150 minutes.

Real Madrid have reached an agreement to renew the contract of academy graduate Raul Asencio until 2031.
