Led by newly-appointed RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, the brand-new Monetary Policy Committee is scheduled to meet from February 4 tomorrow. The much-anticipated repo rate announcement will be made on February 7.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Sanjay Malhotra has announced the Monetary Policy Committee has cut the benchmark repo rate by 26 basis points.

RBI had last reduced the repo rate by 40 basis points to 4 per cent in May 2020 to help the economy tide over the crisis following the outbreak of the Covid pandemic and subsequent lockdown.
