One band that’s been notorious for this over the years was none other than Black Sabbath’s original lineup of Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, and Bill Ward. By my count they’d done a couple “final shows”, but this morning’s announcement of “The Final Show” in Birmingham, U.K. certainly feels like a terminus for the band.

Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward will unite for one final performance as Black Sabbath. Headlined Back to the Beginning, the all-day concert will feature some of the biggest acts in metal — including Metallica, Slayer and Pantera — when it’s held on July 5 at Villa Park, in Birmingham, England, the band’s home town.
