I’ve seen all the musical biopics, from this year’s A Complete Unknown and Back to Black (bad, but not as bad as some say) to old-school selections like The Buddy Holly Story, Bird, St. Louis Blues, and loads of others.

When stars endorse their own biopics, more cynical viewers might end up wondering just how closely the events shown on screen cleave to the truth. But in this new jukebox musical about the life of Robbie Williams – directed by The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey,

Let chimpanzee entertain you in a wonderfully bizarre — but still formulaic — musical from the director of "The Greatest Showman."

“In real life I don’t cry that much,” Williams says and then smiles. “You have a (expletive) biography about you and have the world go, ‘I’ve seen you and heard you’ and come tell me how you deal with it.'”

In 'Better Man', premiering Dec. 25 in theaters, Robbie Williams is portrayed by actor Jonno Davies, in the form of a CGI chimpanzee.
