WASHINGTON — Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., sought a restraining order Monday against the House Ethics Committee in an effort to halt the panel's expected release of a final report summarizing its investigation into him.

Matt Gaetz filed a suit against the House Ethics Committee on Monday seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent the public release of a scathing report resulting from an investigation into allegations of his sexual and drug misconduct.

The release of the report finding evidence that Gaetz possessed illegal drugs and regularly paid for sex follows a yearslong investigation into allegations about his behavior while in Congress.
