Several members of the Oath Keepers, a far-right extremist group, cannot enter Washington, DC, or the grounds of the US Capitol without first receiving court permission, a federal judge said Friday, days after President Donald Trump commuted their prison sentences.

WASHINGTON -- A federal judge on Friday barred Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes from entering Washington, D.C., without the court's approval after President Donald Trump commuted the far-right extremist group leader's 18-year prison sentence for orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Capitol four years ago.

President Trump’s handpicked acting D.C. U.S. Attorney insisted Friday afternoon that a federal judge should rescind his own order from Friday morning barring recently released Oath Keepers from going to D.C. and, specifically, the U.S. Capitol.

The order comes just days after Oath Keeper leader Stewart Rhodes was seen in the Capitol meeting with GOP lawmakers and petitioning the release of Oath Keepers still incarcerated on separate charges.

Ed Martin, a longtime advocate for Jan. 6 defendants recently named to run the prosecutors’ office, sought to undo a judge’s order barring Stewart Rhodes from visiting Washington.

Edward Martin, the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, is asking a federal judge to eliminate all restrictions on the previously incarcerated leaders of the far-right Oath Keepers paramilitary from visiting the capital.
