The Boston Celtics couldn't survive an offensive explosion from Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr., who scored 16 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter on Friday night. Porter Jr.'s impressive performance at TD Garden helped give the Nets the 113-105 win and drop the Celtics to 8-8 on the early season.

Joe Mazzulla needs to find that energy every game now for the Celtics to have a chance against tough opponents. On Friday, he waited too long, keeping Hugo Gonzalez on the bench until the fourth quarter and keeping Jordan Walsh on the sidelines during the Nets’ 19-4 run. Those were the only two guys Brown praised after the loss.

The Celtics had won three straight games to move to above .500 for the first time before this defeat dropped them back to 8-8. They allowed Brooklyn’s Michael Porter Jr. to score 33 points on 13-for-21 shooting, while Nic Claxton recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds.
