Mumbai police have recovered the third fragment of the knife used in the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, marking a significant step in the ongoing investigation.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan left a hospital in India’s financial capital Mumbai on Tuesday, less than a week after he suffered knife injuries in a scuffle with an intruder at his house, local media reported.

According to the police, the accused had illegally entered India by crossing the Dawki River around seven months ago. After entering India, he had initially stayed in Bengal for a few weeks. He had even used the Aadhaar card of a local man to procure a SIM card before moving to Mumbai in search of a job.

Mumbai Police uncovered a human trafficking network that facilitated the accused, Shariful Islam Shahzad, in entering India illegally.

Saif Ali Khan has met auto-rickshaw driver Bhajan Singh Rana, who rushed him to hospital after he was injured in the knife attack at his home in Mumbai, and thanked him for the timely help.
