The extreme cold has prompted multiple school closures across the region, with districts canceling classes to keep students and staff safe from the dangerous conditions and other weather-related issues.

Dozens of school districts in southeast Michigan have posted school closings or delays for Tuesday Feb. 18 in response to icy or snow-covered roads. The list includes some of the schools in Lenawee, Macomb, Monroe, Sanilac, St. Clair and Wayne counties.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Father Winter hasn't let up yet. Some schools are closing Tuesday as snow continues to hit West Michigan. Lake-effect snow is expected Monday night through Tuesday, primarily across lakeshore counties. Accumulation will range from 1-2". Overnight lows will range on either side of 0°, with wind chills as low as -15°.
