Macy’s is closing several dozen stores as part of a previously announced turnaround plan to save the beleaguered retailer.

Macy's has previously confirmed it is closing around 150 stores in the coming years as part of a new sustainable growth strategy.

The moves are a “part of the Bold New Chapter strategy, which was announced in February 2024,” the company said.

The closure is the latest drama on a stretch of East Market Street that’s been the focus of a recent and fierce civic debate over the approval of a proposed arena for the Sixers.

In all, 64 Macy's stores in several states, including Florida, New York, California, and Pennsylvania, are set to close, according to a listing of online closures. Most stores are expected to close in the first three months of 2025. The list of closings can be found here.

Macy's will close its stores at the Maplewood Mall and Burnsville Center. On Thursday, the longtime mall cornerstone released a list of 66 locations across the United States that will close. The department stores in Maplewood and Burnsville were the only locations in Minnesota that will shutter.
