Familiar foes get together for the seventh time Wednesday night at Wrigley Field, as the Chicago Cubs host the Los Angeles Dodgers for the finale of a two-game mid-week series.

Matthew Boyd has picked up right where he left off in his brief 2024 campaign with the Cleveland Guardians, beginning his tenure with the Chicago Cubs by pitching to a 2.01 ERA in four starts. He’s been nails, eating plenty of innings and pitching to very friendly contact at just a 28.1% hard-hit rate.

The Dodgers really jumped off in the seventh inning, scoring five runs to go up 10–7 over Chicago. The Cubs inched closer in the eighth, scoring two more runs to be down just one. Miguel Amaya saved the day first when he hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game.
