Lagoon to ‘phase out’ zoo after years of criticism
According to the national activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has cited Lagoon multiple times for zoo conditions over a 15-year span.
Lagoon announces zoo closure and rehoming of animals
The zoo featured in the Wild Kingdom Train ride at Lagoon Amusement Park will soon be shutting down. Adam Leishman, a spokesperson for the theme park, said the big cats in the zoo have already been rehomed as of late 2024 and the rest of the animals and the zoo will be phased out slowly over the next year.
