Canadian aid is being airdropped into Gaza a day after Ottawa announced its intention to recognize Palestinian statehood.

Israel is allowing aid to be dropped by air into Gaza but UN agencies say the supplies won't make much difference.

Israel has introduced limited daily pauses in its military operations across three areas of Gaza, aimed at alleviating the worsening humanitarian situation. According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF),

T he announcement was an admission of failure. On July 26th the Israel Defence Forces ( IDF) said that it would parachute food into Gaza and implement daily “humanitarian pauses” in parts of the still depopulated areas of the devastated strip, allowing international aid organisations to bring in convoys.

The world’s leading authority on hunger said that a ‘worst-case scenario of famine’ was developing in Gaza, though stopped short of a formal famine declaration. NBC News’ Matt Bradley reports.

Britain said on Tuesday it would recognise a Palestinian state in September unless Israel takes steps to relieve suffering in Gaza, where starvation is spreading, and reaches a ceasefire in the nearly two-year war with Hamas.
