(WAND Weather) —Central Illinois' first big snowstorm of the season exited Monday morning. Moderate to heavy snow fell across much of the area Sunday morning through early Monday. As we expected, the heaviest of the snow was around Interstate 72 southward. Much of this area picked up 5-10" of snow.

The first major winter storm of the new year swept into the U.S. mid-Atlantic states on Monday morning, closing down federal offices and public schools in Washington, D.C., after dumping a foot of snow in parts of the Ohio Valley and Central Plains.
