Google Drive now lets you watch videos instantly after uploading, ditching those annoying wait times. While the update is great, you still have to wait for video processing before sharing. The upgrade is available to Google Workspace users, individual subscribers, and personal account holders.

A new post from Google indicates that Google Drive users with Workspaces will soon have access to a highly anticipated media playback feature.

Uploaded videos no longer need to complete a processing step before you’re able to stream them. Other viewers will need to wait for transcoding to finish before you can share with them, though.

Google recently rolled out a new update for Drive that introduces a major change: the ability to play videos the moment they are uploaded on the web.

Google Drive now offers instant playback for newly-uploaded videos, eliminating wait times. The feature is rolling out gradually and will be available on all Workspace and personal accounts by mid-to-late January. Google Groups is phasing out old keyboard shortcuts for new, more accessible ones by early 2025.
