President Donald Trump, who made the deportation of immigrants a central part of his campaign and presidency, said the U.S. will use a detention center at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, to hold tens of thousands of the "worst criminal aliens.

Human rights groups have accused U.S. authorities of using Guantánamo Bay for decades to detain migrants fleeing Haiti, Cuba and other Caribbean nations.

The Pentagon is reportedly planning to begin flying the “worst of the worst” criminal migrants to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, this weekend as part of President Trump’s effort to crackdown on illegal immigration.

The US has maintained a migrant detention facility there for decades that is separate from the notorious high-security jail for foreign terror suspects, including alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

Kristi Noem, Department of Homeland Security secretary, says “we have the space, we just have to get to work” at Guantanamo Bay to prepare it for deported migrants.

President Trump said he plans to send up to 30,000 migrants to Guantanamo Bay that are “so bad” he doesn’t trust their home countries to be able to keep them from getting back into the US.
