Merrill Kelly was just too much for Atlanta’s lineup to deal with in this one. Kelly pitched seven shutout innings as Chris Sale’s strong start went down in vain. The Atlanta Braves had their chances (especially late) but they were unable to capitalize and ended up falling to the Diamondbacks in an uninspiring 2-1 defeat.

The Braves had leads of 6-0 through three, 9-3 through six and 10-4 through eight and still lost to the Diamondbacks, 11-10 ( box score ). Credit, obviously, to the D-backs offense for never giving up and putting the hurt on the Braves' bullpen.

The Atlanta Braves may have hit rock bottom in their already shaky season by giving up seven runs in the ninth inning to lose 11-10 to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
