The IRS has officially announced the beginning of the 2025 tax filing season: The agency will begin accepting 2024 federal tax returns on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025.

The Internal Revenue Service announced that the tax season will kick off Jan. 27, 2025 — not only that, but this tax season will also feature more tools to help taxpayers. The IRS expects more than 140 million individual tax returns for tax year 2024 to be filed ahead of the April 15 federal deadline.

Some of you may think it’s too early, but nevertheless, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced when the 2025 tax season officially starts. And, too, when people can expect to get their refunds. According to an IRS press release, people can begin filing their taxes on Monday, Jan. 27.
