I would say give it a try Het dropped off as near to the entrance as possible as the parking area is a bit rough. It's mostly dandy and you may only be able to walk to the visitors centre and in the first oasis and boardwalks but it will give you a taste. Good luck.

The Preserve is about 2.5 miles north on Thousand Palms Canyon Road. That road is off Ramon. The closer you are to Ramon, the shorter the drive. It's probably 30 minutes. Please check the website to confirm hours. It is closed Monday and Tuesday and only open from 8-4 Wed-Sunday.

There is parking near a beautiful trailhead at Coachella Valley Preserve that is quite a level path to some quiet springs in the middle of a grove of palm trees. When we hiked there someone spotted an owl in a nest. A branch of this trail goes west to a hilltop that was covered in flowers in January. Imagine it s even more stunning now after more rains. It gives meaning to the term “Palm Springs “. Enjoy!
